Unhappy earthly concern! Do you share my madness? Have you drank besides of the elate draught? Let me reveal my tale, and you will dash the loving cup from your lips. These events led original into the serial of unfortunate events which took tool on his life.
We know the story of Frankenstein starts remove with Walton, a character whos on an adventure to chance upon the unachievable. Hes put into this story as a character, thats part of the framed recital style of writing. A framed narrative is a type of writing that shows a story within a story. Mary Shelly puts the framed narrative in this story, to show us the connection between victor and Walton, and Walton and the reader.
Victor and Walton share many traits. They both wanted to master and exceed to higher expectations in life. The two of them wanted to do the unthinkable at a season, when the unthinkable was frowned upon. At the time the book took place, Romanticism was trying to gain acceptance. Romanticism was any about the common person, and the idea that nature was all they needed.
Victor and Walton believed that nature could not do for them as much as they could do for themselves. They both believed that they could do better on their own. They also believed that they shouldnt be like everybody else, and there was a mint candy more to life than being the average human. Lastly, they both felt the craving for a friend with knowledge and acceptance they both held. Here is a quote Walton shares with Victor. I spoke of my desire of finding a friend, of my thirst for a more indicate sympathy with a fellow mind than had ever fall to my lot, and expressed my conviction that a man could boast of teeny-weeny happiness who did not enjoy this blessing. (13)
