Theorist Selected: Florence nightingale
Description of Theory: environmental theory. The environment was the main emphasis of Nightingales environmental theory. She clearly stress that clean environment, fresh air, warmth, noise control and management of wastes and odors were shipway that the environment could be altered in such a way as to improve conditions so that nature could act to cure the patient (Selanders, 2010). Included in that was proper provisions and a stress free environment. She realized that internal and external environment controls were both
important to the progress of the patients health. She believed in patient revolve about care, and took on a more holistic point of view. The spiritual, social, biological, and mental requirements.
Nightingale emphasized that people had reparative powers and that the nurses duty was to assist these powers as the means of returning people to health (Selanders, 2010).
Nightingale believed that care for was a science as well as a profession and worked very hard to raise it to the level of reputability by teaching technical skills and techniques.
Theorys historic background: Born in 1820 to a wealthy family, Florence Nightingale was educated at home by her father. She wanted to execute a nurse to help and serve others. Nursing at that time was not viewed as a respectable or an attractive profession. Florence went ahead and became a nurse despite the accompaniment that her parents disapproved of it.
