In the novel, Things Fall Apart, Ukonkwo is the ultimate fierce warrior. He is a known hero of the village of Umuofia, the nine other villages. When Oknokwo was eighteen, he threw Amalinza the cat and was crowned the greatest wrestler since the rising of his village. If a child washed his hands, he could eat with kings.

Okonkwo is a man that dispirits things done, is not diligent with unsuccessful, improvident men, like his father. Unoka was Oknokwos father, a man that was in deep debt to many people, was viewed as a laughing extraction of the village.
Unoka quickly became the man that never stuck to his word; people didnt want to lend him money, because he is incapable of having the responsibility to devote his debts. On the day that Okoye came to see Unoka, he was playing on his flute, exchanged greetings. Soon later they both gathered in a hut amongst other men, they began to discuss the issues with the weather, their farming problems. A few moments later, Okoye asked Unoka to pay back his two hundred cowries that he owed. Using his wily skills, Unoka managed to escape out of the conference by showcasing a wall of debts, explaining that he must pay forward the big debts first before paying off the trivial debts, while taking more and more of snuff.
