Nelle Wilson Reagan was a devout Christian who, despite her own trying circumstances, devoted herself to the service of others. Having allowed Neil to be baptized in the Roman Catholic faith of his father, she advance Ronald to join her church service. At age 12, Ronald was baptized by the Disciples of Christ, a Midwestern Protestant group that preached temperance, salvation through replete(p) works, and the idea that God has a plan for all things. The church became a focal point of Ronalds life. He went to Bible classes, acted in church plays directed by his mother, and helped clean and repair the church. Ronald carried his early on church teachings with him throughout his life.
Many years later, he would declaim hymns he learned as a boy and mete out with others his belief in Gods unerring plan.
When he finished tall school, Ronald enrolled in Eureka College in (Go figure) Eureka, Illinois in 1928. He majored in economics and sociology. When he was in college, he was also all for football, track, and he was captain of the swim team and was elected President of the Student Body. Ronald graduated in 1932.
After Reagan graduated from college, he became a radio announcer for WOC in Daven Port, Iowa but moved on to WHO radio in Des Moines, Iowa.
