Often times, a young child strives to become a professional athlete, movie star, or famous singer in their future. As they grow older, they think to themselves, what are the odds? There are very few people in the world with the motor and motivation that Nancy obtained throughout her career. She was an individual that would not allow thorax cancer to take over her livelihood, but only to part it as a motivation to banish the disease from our world. The desire and confidence that she gives to breast cancer patients every daylight is rightfully remarkable. Nancy Brinkers tone was changed in the year 1977 when her sister, best friend, and partner in life Susan Komen was diagnosed with breast cancer. Susans case required nine surgeries, three rounds of chemotherapy and several rounds of radiation therapy (Brinker, Nancy Wilson Co.). After three grueling geezerhood of battling cancer, Susan began to realize she would not live. She began to make Nancy reassure. To promise to end the silence.

Nancy unbroken that promise and continues to live and breathe that promise everyday. Finally when Susan died in 1980, Nancys life became dedicated to her sister. Everything she would do would revolve more or less curing breast cancer. Nancy says, I wake to my sister every morning and shes with me everyday.
