The Industrial Revolution was the beginning of major upheaval of the beliefs and systems of the time. It changed the look that lives were governed and the way people behaved. It radically altered family life as well as the definition of the word work, and it withal shook up the current mixer classesand added a bare-assed one as well. The Industrial Revolution, taken from the viewpoints of Chris Harman (A Peoples History of the World) and Jerry H. Bentley and Herbert F. Ziegler (Traditions and Encounters), was indeed a time when it seemed the world had in advance(p) all at once, that much can be agree on. But what makes this era even more interesting is in the way that its told. Harman founders us with a Marxist-leanings perspective, while Bentley and Ziegler present us with an omniscient point of view. I will be comparing and contrasting the various forms of change that took place during the Industrial Revolution using these two very different sources. Or are they all that radically different? When sentiment about the Industrial Revolution and the mark that it made on history, perhaps the first thought to come to mind is the inventions that appeared, provided there was so much more that happened as a result of this revolution, and a major change that occurred was the changes within the social classes.
